Last updated: February 13rd 2025, 16:55 - Please note this privacy policy mentions the use of ads, although no ads are found in the website due to the terms and conditions of our hosting provider (alwaysdata)
MClient (from now on “MClient”, “Maltion”, “We” or “Us”) understands how important privacy is to our users, especially considering many of them are children that came from Scratch.
This privacy policy will explain to you (“you”, “user”) what personal information is collected through our website, how we use and process it, and what we are doing to keep it safe. It also will tell you about your rights and choices with respect to your Personal information and how to contact us for questions or concerns.
Personal information means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DOES MCLIENT COLLECT ABOUT ME?
You provide us information when you create an account or post something in our forums. The information provided contains the username you have chosen and your email. We also process information you generated yourself, such as the contents of forum posts.
When you use the MClient website, we use cookies to improve the experience. Essential and analytical cookies are used. The analytical cookies collect information from your browser or device, for example, your IP address. It is collected anonymously by our hosting provider (alwaysdata) to show statistics to us, but we never get to see any single IP address from our users, only the website hosting provider has them. In this context anonymously means alwaysdata does not know what IP address belongs to which account. The essential cookies are used to store login information, so you don't have to login constantly.
HOW DOES MCLIENT USE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
The main purpose is to provide you with the services that we offer through the website. An overview of the uses:
Internal and Service-Related Usage: We use personal information for internal purposes, such as operating the website. For example, to direct you to requested content, to create or recover your account and to allow you to write and share posts in the forum.
Statistics for us to improve the website: Alwaysdata uses personal information such as your IP address to show statistics to us. This process is automatically made, and no human is performing this procedure. This means no human gets to see any IP address at all. For example, we can know how many people (but not who) entered the website in January thanks to these statistics they generate. We are not aware of how long they keep this information. If you are concerned about this, contact them.
Communications: We may send emails to you about news or technical support purposes using the email address you provide to us when you create or edit your account.
Ads: The ads in the website are provided by Google Ads. They can use your personal data to offer personalized ads to you, for example, if you are interested in mobile phones, it will use your data to display phones ads. This option can be turned off through their settings. This process is not performed by us, and we will not use your personal data for that same purpose.
HOW DOES MCLIENT SHARE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We only share your personal information with our website hosting provider for data analysis and Google to personalize your experience with ads. We strongly recommend you read the privacy policies of Google Ads (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and alwaysdata (https://www.alwaysdata.com/en/privacy-policy/)
However, the information of posts in the forum can be seen by everyone. The users are the responsible entities behind their own posts, not us; however, we will remove it if it breaks our terms of service, for example, if it contains personal information from another individual given consent or not from them since that is not allowed.
If you share personal information from you or another individual, your post will get deleted, and your account could get blocked temporally or permanently depending on the severity. Sharing personal information on the forum is a severe problem because anyone could see it in a matter of minutes.
To know more information about norms and rules of the forum, check the Terms of use.
THIRD PARTY SERVICES
This privacy policy applies only to the processing of your Personal Information by us, but it does not address, and we are not responsible for the practices of any third parties mentioned in the forums by other users. An example of this would be YouTube, just because a user uploads a YouTube video link to the forum, does not mean we will make ourselves responsible of any legal trouble that YouTube gets in. We are not able to provide you directly the links to their privacy policies, but we advise you to check them before using these sites just as you are doing here.
CHILD PRIVACY
Our services are provided to individuals of all ages, including users under the age of 13. The information collected from users above the age of 13 is different for those under it. When you create an account, your age will be asked to automatically disable personalized ads with no chance of re-enabling them. This means the only data we collect from children only includes interactions with the website and their posts, nothing more.
In addition, parents and guardians can contact us to remove all the information collected from their children and their accounts. Please note we will refuse to do this if the parents or guardians fail to prove the account belongs to their children. This is because if we did not verify it, a troll could easily tell us they are the parents or guardians of a completely unrelated account and delete it. To prove an account belongs to your child, you must be able to log into it. If you can’t log into the account, we have no way of knowing if you are a real parent and the account belongs to a child.
We store children’s data in the same way as any other account, using TLS for all data transfers and encrypting it.
YOUR RIGHTS
As a user, you have the right to update your information at any time. This means you can update your email address along with other settings in your account settings page.
You can delete any post you made yourself, but not the post of other users. If a user reveals personal information from you, you have the right to report it to accelerate the process of moderation to remove it.
You can change your username every 14 days. This is because if we allowed unlimited changes of username, it could allow trolls to change their username constantly while violating our terms of service, making moderation more difficult. You can also delete your account at any time using the same settings page, but it will take 48 hours to complete. During these 48 hours your account would still be accessible, but you will be logged off. You can log back to your account if you change your mind, and that will cancel the deleting request. When you delete your account, your username, password, and email get deleted completely from our database. Your posts will not get deleted by default and will be kept forever for historical purposes (historical purposes mean that some old posts might be want to be kept to not take context away from these posts), replacing their author's username by “[deleted]”, however you can always specify to delete the posts too in the deletion form if you want to completely erase your trace.
If you did not select to delete the posts too and changed your mind but you have already deleted your account, emailing us will also work to delete your posts without the need of the deletion form.
HOW DOES MCLIENT PROTECT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We protect your data using different techniques like using TLS for all data transfers, encrypting our databases, and strictly limiting access to the server settings to very few people.
The TLS protocol uses AES encryption to protect your personal information, so even if it gets intercepted, the hacker will have no way of reading it.
However, as effective as these measures are, we must face the fact that no security system is impenetrable. Even trying as hard as we can, we cannot guarantee the security of our databases, nor can we guarantee that your interactions will not get intercepted by someone in your same network. This is not intended to downplay security though and we will still update our security methods if better ones get invented.
INTERNATIONAL CROSS-BORDER DATA TRANSFER
Our website hosting provider has their servers installed in France, which is part of Europe. The data you submit to us will go there. Since our servers are in the European Economic Area, laws related to data collection from here can be applied.
Please note that if you live in the United States of America your data could be transferred to countries that could have different laws related to data collection, for example, other users who see your posts who live in different countries.
NOTIFICATIONS OF CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
We review our security measures and Privacy Policy on a periodic basis, and we may modify our policies as appropriate. If we make changes to the policy, we will notify you through the site or by sending you an email or other communication. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy on a regular basis. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Your continued use of the MClient website following these changes means that you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
